Safe Learning Environment
The security staff throughout the Chaffey Joint Union High School District is made up of highly trained individuals who specialize in the safety of our students. Their first priority in any given situation is the safety of our students, staff, and community members on our sites. Each security officer has received specialized training and they partner with local law enforcement to maintain a safe learning environment on each of our campuses. Each of our sites has a School Resource Officer that is assigned to the campus. The security team is supervised by the Assistant Principal of Discipline, whose contact information is listed below. Visitors are not allowed on any of the Chaffey District Campuses without first receiving permission and obtaining a visitors pass in the Principal's Office.

Our primary goals at Alta Loma High School and in the Chaffey Joint Union High School District (CJUHSD) are to improve student achievement and classroom instruction. To that end, student engagement plays a critical role, which includes being present, on time, every day, for every class. The following Tardy/Truancy policy reflects a progressive list of steps that fosters student accountability, supports the CJUHSD revised board policy regarding tardy/truancy, while underscoring a collective effort among all staff to promote on time attendance.
Role of Administration and security:
- Being visible before school, during lunch, and passing periods to usher students to class.Security will be placed in “high risk” locations for tardy/truancy.
- PLASCO system oversight
- Enforcement of tardy/truancy consequences
Role of Parents:
- Contact the school to clear absences through our 24 hour attendance reporting line at 909-460-5781
- Return teacher phone calls as soon as possible to discuss how to support their student within the classroom
- Email teachers through school loop as needed for clarification or questions about their student’s progress.
The PLASCO attendance system will serve as a documenting source regarding tardies. When students are late to class, students will be directed by administration, staff, and security to the Plasco base station in the discipline office. However, teachers are still responsible for marking student late or truant via Aeries when they arrive to class. Students will receive the following notices for each Plasco violation:
|1st Offense:||Warning 1|
|2nd Offense:||Warning 2|
|3rd Offense:||Detention 1 (Wednesday afternoons from 3:10PM to 4:00PM: Cafeteria)|
|4th Offense:||Detention 2 (Wednesday afternoons from 3:10PM to 4:00PM: Cafeteria)|
|5th Offense:||Meeting with AP of Discipline: Contract signed, parent phone call made.
Contract requires student to make up both detentions in order to participate in any school
wide activity i.e. Rallies, Dances, Senior Activities and assignment of Saturday School if
a student is tardy again.
|6th Offense:||Saturday School Assigned (SOS)/Cannot participate in school wide/Senior activities|
|7th Offense:||Parent meeting with administration and counselor to determine further intervention.
